Stop Lever Function
What is the purpose of the stop lever located on the mower handle?
The engine stop lever is a safety feature regulating two engine functions:
- When the lever is depressed, a grounding circuit is opened which allows the engine ignition system to operate. Also, a brake is released which allows the engine's flywheel and the cutting blade to rotate.
- When the lever is released, the grounding circuit is closed which shuts down the ignition system. The flywheel brake engages and prevents further rotation of the engine and cutting blade.
